Frequently Asked Questions

We love questions and we try to have the answers.  But we don't have all of them.  Please see our Frequently Asked Questions here and please use this form to ask us any and all questions that you might have.  We'll do our best to answer!

  • What is Bagasse?
    • Bagasse (n. -bah-gas) is the dry, fibrous residue remaining after the extraction of juice from the crushed stalks of sugar cane.
    • We use bagasse fiber to make all of our plates.
  • What does Transitions2earth mean by biodegradable?
    • Transitions2earth™ premium quality utensils and cutlery have been shown to biodegrade 13% in 59 weeks.  Tested using the ASTM D5511 test under conditions that simulate both wetter and biologically active landfills. Wetter or biologically active landfills may not exist in your area. The stated rate and extent of degradation do not mean that the product will continue to decompose or decompose completely.
  • Are Transitions2earth products BPA-free?
    • Transitions2earth™ premium quality utensils and cutlery are made from FDA certified food grade ingredients that do not contain any harmful BPA chemical.
  • What is upcycling?
    • Upcycling is using a material that has little or no use and is reused to create a product or greater quality and use. Transitions2Earth upcycles bagasse and avocado seeds to create several of our products. Upcycling is crucial from a sustainable perspective because it reduces the amount of waste we produce and reduces the need for new material to be harvested. In the case of plastics, there will be less oil wells drilled and less expended energy.
  • Does Transitions2earth ship internationally?
    • Currently we are only able to ship to the US and Canada. However, our products are available on for international shipping.
